The Ottawa Children's Choir proudly launched its Boys' Choir in September 2016. In the Boys’ Choir, boys are encouraged to remain involved in choral music as their voices change. This choir has sopranos, altos, tenors and basses which is a new experience for many of the choristers who are used to singing with sopranos and altos only. Conducted by our Chamber Choir Music Director, the Boys’ Choir performs at the OCC Christmas and Spring concerts and as requested within the community. In 2016, the Boys' Choir debuted with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in The Music of Star Wars. Boys' Choir participated in the OCC's 60th Anniversary Eastern Canada Tour in 2018, travelling to and performing in Quebec City, Halifax and Charlottetown. Registration is open to choristers aged 10 - 15 years old who are either members of the OCC Concert Choir, OCC Chamber Choir or who are new to the OCC family of choirs. The Boys' Choir rehearses every second Thursday for one hour and spends some social time together afterwards. The registration fee for Boys' Choir is two-tiered, and is dependent on whether the chorister is currently in another OCC choir or in Boys' Choir only. There is no audition required for Boys' Choir, vocal placement is determined by the Conductor Jamie Loback.
