OCC Covid-19 update

Dear Members of the Ottawa Children’s Choir Community,

Doing our part to help reduce the spread of Covid-19

  • Rehearsals are suspended until the week of April 5th, in line with the closure of schools by the Ontario government.

  • We are also postponing the Chamber Choir Vivaldi concert which was planned for March 27th; tickets already purchased will be reimbursed. The Prima Choir performance at the public library on April 4th is postponed.

  • The Voices of Africa concert on March 29th, which Concert Choir was participating in, has been canceled by its organizers.

These decisions are in line with others in the arts community, designed to limit spread through large gatherings.

We know this is an uncertain time for all. The health and well-being of our community is our priority. We will be monitoring the situation and will communicate with you about the resumption of rehearsals and other planned performances as things evolve.

We are also thinking about how we can stay connected remotely during this time – after all, nothing lifts the spirit like the Joy of Singing! Stay tuned!

We hope you have a lovely and safe March break. Please look for our on-going messages with our plans going forward.

How can you stay healthy?

Some of the things that you can do to help reduce the risk and possible spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

  • wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer;

  • cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze;

  • avoid touching your face and eyes;

  • if you don’t have a tissue, sneeze or cough into your sleeve or arm;

  • reduce your attendance at large public gatherings;

  • stay home if you are ill; and

  • get a yearly influenza vaccination, available from clinics and pharmacies.

  • abide by all travel advisories
