Vacancies for Board Members (Parent and Community Representatives) for the Ottawa Children's Choir

The Ottawa Children’s Choir has vacancies for Board Members for the period 2017-2018

The OCC Board is a working board comprising 6 parent representatives and 7 community representatives. We have openings for parent and community representatives from July 2017 (renewable). Directors on the OCC Board are typically elected for a two-year term.

Board meetings are held once a month and focus on the successful governance of the organization and the implementation of its vision.  Members also commit to serving on a sub-committee on such issues as fund-raising, funding via grants and corporate sponsorship, registration fees, marketing, concert logistics, and parent volunteer engagement. The time commitment is therefore approximately 3 hours a month plus perhaps an additional 2-4 hours at peak times.

The 2017-2018 year will be an exciting one to be involved with the OCC – we are celebrating the Choir’s 60th anniversary in 2018 and also implementing our new Training Choir for 6- and 7-year-old children.

We especially welcome applicants with the following skills and experience:  information technology, media, communications, fundraising and grant applications.

This is a vibrant organization whose mandate is to promote artistic excellence, community connection and above all the joy of singing in our young choristers. The rewards of serving on the OCC Board are great:

* working with enthusiastic and dedicated adults

* the opportunity to observe and enjoy the progress and wonderful results in our five choirs' rehearsals and concert performances

* the knowledge that you are helping to nurture the arts in the young and bringing joy to the wider community

* membership in one of Canada’s nationally recognized children’s choirs with a long and proud history

Applications (or nominations) can be sent to [email protected] before June 7th. We will follow up on nominations, but if you are applying on your own behalf please send a letter expressing your interest and attach a CV.
