OCC Prima Choir

In keeping with the Ottawa Children’s Choir's vision and mission of promoting the joy of singing and the advancement of children’s musical education, we are excited to introduce our Prima Choir to provide early choral experience to 6- and 7-year-old children. This age-appropriate program will provide younger children with a foundation in music theory and solfege, and exposure to a variety of musical styles and languages. The rich and engaging environment will allow them to explore and develop new skills and connect with their peers, and will start them on the path to a lifetime of musical enjoyment, appreciation and achievement.

Weekly rehearsals will introduce children to essential choral/music skills, while building self-expression, creativity and confidence. Time will be devoted to ear training, music theory and the basics of singing, through games and activities. Choristers will build musical independence through basic part-singing, explore musical concepts and ideas through movement and song, and have the opportunity to showcase their achievements through performances at Ottawa Children's Choir concerts.

Our OCC Prima Choir Conductor is Jennifer Berntson.

The Choir rehearses weekly at St. Joseph's Parish, 174 Wilbrod Street.
