JENNIFER BERNTSON is a conductor, soprano, and music educator. Inspired in her love of choral music by a childhood spent singing with the Saskatoon Children’s Choir, she has performed with choral ensembles across Canada, including the National Youth Choir. She is the founding artistic director of Aella Choir, a women's choir which has been described as “everything modern choir should be – innovative, technically precise, joyous” (Classical Ottawa). She looks forward to taking Aella on the road for the first time this summer, with a weeklong performance tour of Nova Scotia. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice from Mount Allison University and a Master of Arts in Music and Culture from Carleton University, where her research focused on collective music-making in social movements. When not working with her choirs or students, she enjoys spending time with her husband, one-year old daughter, and singing with the Capital Chamber Choir.
