ALLISON PROWSE (O.C.T.) was appointed Conductor of the Concert and Viva Choirs in 2005 after serving as pianist for the Viva and Concert Choirs since since 1987. A graduate of Queen's University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music (piano performance), Ms. Prowse has been a professional accompanist for choral, instrumental and dance performances for over 25 years while teaching full-time with the school board. She has conducted the choral component of the Ottawa Youth Orchestra's summer school programme and has collaborated with choral ensembles of all ages and with organizations at the municipal, federal and international levels, including the National Arts Centre (Family Adventure Series and the annual Unisong Festival), International Embassies, The Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces and with Music and Beyond (John Rutter concerts ; Annual Christmas Concerts). Ms. Prowse also holds a 4 year Bachelor of Education from Queen's University with additional Specialist Qualifications in Special Education (Speech and Language) from Queen’s University and the University of Ottawa. As a current educator with the OCDSB, Ms. Prowse continues to place a focussed emphasis on music education for all, both in the classroom and in the community in her support of both choral and instrumental programmes (Orkidstra). Ms. Prowse holds a strong belief and history of collaboration at all levels, and a deep commitment to encouraging excellence of person and quality of musicianship. Ms. Prowse has witnessed the joy of singing in an educational context that is met within the excellent and rich history of the OCC.
